About Tayion

With undergraduate and graduate degrees in education, Detroit native and Marine Corps veteran, Montee Holland was a first hand witness to fashion at a young age by way of his mother, coach and Dean of Students. To Holland, they were style. With a personal declaration to emulate his examples, birth was given to a vision. Motivated by the prohibition era and the famed Motown groups, Montee Holland, President of the Tayion Collection (pronounced Tay-on) began designing in the late eighties with little more than an eye for putting things together. That’s how it all started, with Holland “putting things together” for himself.

Encouraged by the feedback, Holland began designing for other people. The response was great and word quickly spread. After setting aside time for college, graduate school and positions within two Fortune 50 companies, fashion again called his name and Holland answered. Things took off so quickly, it was almost overwhelming. Stepping out on faith Holland left his pharmaceutical sales job at Pfizer to produce his first ready-to-wear collection for the masses. Presented in 2003, The Tayion Collection with its classically tailored details and modernistic appeal was on its way.

Following successful sales in local stores, Holland brought his collection to the Las Vegas MAGIC fashion convention. While his convention real estate was a humble 10×10 cloth booth, Tayion didn’t go unnoticed; garnering the attention of comedian and actor Steve Harvey (one of the “Original King’s of Comedy and star of Steve Harvey’s Big Time on the WB Network). Enamored with the designs, Harvey introduced Holland to those behind the line bearing his own name – The Steve Harvey Collection. This introduction, coupled with Holland’s eye for fashion led to both the sharing of a booth with Steve Harvey at the Spring 2004 MAGIC Fashion Convention.

In their post convention report, the MAGIC Fashion Convention deemed Tayion as one of the hottest lines showcased. Since this series of fortunate events, The Tayion Collection has taken the country by storm. Celebrities in film, music, faith and sports have requested and donned his exquisite creations. Most recently, funnyman Jonathan Slocumb and all six members of the harmonizing group Take 6 strut the red carpet in Tayion at the 39th NAACP Image Awards. Additionally, Tayion-clad celebrities include actor Sean Blakemore (“Woman Thou Art Loosed”, “The Young and the Restless”); gospel crooner Byron Cage; TNT sports analyst Kenny Smith, defensive player Renaldo Hill (Miami Dolphins); actor Jimmy Jean-Louis (“The Bourne Identity”, “Heroes”); actor Morris Chestnut (“The Game Plan”, “Breaking All the Rules”), R&B singer Q Parker (112); comedian/radio personality Talent (98.7 KISS FM New York, Showtime at the Apollo); Pastor Marvin Winans and Pastor Dr. Marvin L. Sapp. The Tayion Collection is also featured almost exclusively in the movies “Motives 2” starring Sean Blakemore, Vivica Fox and Brian J. White; “The Confidant” starring Kanya Moore, Boris Kodjo, Richard Roundtree, David Banner, Eddie Griffin, Howie Bell and Cris Williams.

As men’s fashion changes direction, turning from urban street to urban sophistication, The Tayion Collection is leading the way. With several hundred stores nationwide and growing press coverage, The Tayion Collection is positioning itself as a fashion mainstay. In 2006, Montee T. Holland launched an additional line, T-Fusion. The brand is a result of Holland’s desire to share his fashions with a wider audience.  Currently, the T-Fusion Collection is selling approximately 1,000 units per week across the country.  Holland is anxiously awaiting 2011 as both suit collections will be coupled with shirts, ties, and accessories.  In addition, at the February 2011 Las Vegas Magic Show, Holland will be debuting his most anticipated and requested collection ever, M.T. Holland, a contemporary casual line.

Watch the horizon for a lifestyle in motion. Welcome to the future of fashion; the Tayion Collection.
